After work
Après le travail
My paintings are always done after my “normal” work which takes up the days and allows me to live… My After work is done at the end of the day, after the normal daytime as if the passage to the act of painting or drawing was possible only after the passage of the hours of real world, implacable journey for reaching the studio.
After work is this open door to another world, different from the everyday-world I frequent. Images of the other world are disparate, detuned, sometimes awkward, they loom up as reactions against the weight of the real world. Since then, with my brushes, I bring tiredness into this world. It is an integral part of my condition of being an evening painter.
After work is not an escape. It’s hygiene of mind, a search of pleasure.
After work is also work. At Chiangmai, After work contains some pieces of my evening works of the last ten years…
งานจิตรกรรมของผมเกิดขึ้นภายหลังงาน “ปกติ” ของผมเสมอ งาน “ปกติ” ที่ครอบคลุมเวลากลางวันและเพื่อการยังชีพ... งานวาดทั้งหมดเป็นงานยามสิ้นสุดช่วงวัน ภายหลังวันเวลาปกติ ราวกับว่าการลงมือวาดหรือลงลายเส้นจะเป็นไปได้ก็ภายหลังจากข้ามพ้นโมงยามของโลกแห่งความเป็นจริงอันเป็นเส้นทางบังคับเพื่อจะก้าวไปถึงสตูดิโอ
After work คือประตูที่เปิดออกสู่อีกโลกหนึ่ง แตกต่างจากโลกที่เป็นอยู่ในแต่ละวัน ภาพจากโลกอื่นแห่งนี้มีความหลากหลาย ไม่ลงรอย งุ่มง่ามบางครั้ง โผล่ผุดออกมาประหนึ่งปฎิกิริยาต้านต่อโลกปัจจุบันอันหนักอึ้ง เหตุนี้ ผมจึงนำความเหนื่อยล้าเข้ามาสู่โลกอีกแห่งพร้อมพู่กันของผม ความเหนื่อยเหน็ดรวมอยู่ในสภาวะการเป็นจิตรกรยามเย็นของผม
After work หาใช่การหลีกหนี แต่เป็นสุขอนามัยทางจิต เป็นการค้นหาความรื่นรมย์
After work เป็นงานเช่นกัน รวมเอาเศษส่วนบางชิ้นจากงานยามเย็นในรอบ 10 ปี ที่ผ่านมา...
Mon travail de peinture se fait toujours après mon travail “normal”, celui qui occupe les jours et permet de vivre… Tout est exécuté en fin de journée, après la journée normale, comme si le passage à l’acte de peindre ou de dessiner n’était possible qu’après la traversée des heures du monde réel, ce trajet irréductible pour pouvoir atteindre l’atelier.
After work est cette porte ouverte sur un autre monde, différent du monde fréquenté chaque jour. Les images de cet autre monde sont disparates, désaccordées, maladroites aussi, ells surgissent en réaction contre le poids du monde vécu. Dès lors, avec mes pinceaux, j’amène aussi ma fatigue dans l’autre monde, elle est partie intégrante de ma condition de peintre du soir.
After work n’est pas une fuite. C’est une hygiène de l’esprit, une recherche du plaisir.
After work est aussi un travail. À Chiangmai, After work regroupe quelques fragments de mon travail du soir de ces 10 dernières années…
